SUDBURY

Sudbury Duplicate Bridge

Sudbury Duplicate Bridge is a monthly community service event sponsored by the
Presbyterian Church in Sudbury (PCIS). The group meets at the church, which is located at Sudbury center, next to the Grange and the Town Hall, and entry is just off the parking lot behind the Town Hall. The building is handicapped accessible.

All members of the community are welcomed, and bridge players of all skill levels fit in very easily with the friendly spirit of the group. There is no charge to the players. We meet the second Saturday of each month, with play beginning promptly at 7:00.

The Sudbury Duplicate Bridge group started out in the mid-1990s as a fellowship time for the members of PCIS. Players took turns hosting the group in their homes. If the group was too large in any given month, the church fellowship hall was used. In the late 1990s, a very skilled member of the group offered to give free bridge lessons---and this was advertised in the local newspaper. Along with that decision, came an open invitation for community folks to join in. The plan to meet in members’ homes was soon discarded when two new players required the easy accessibility of the church building, and also when its larger space was regularly needed.

A number of years ago, PCIS turned over the running of the monthly games to skilled
members of the bridge playing community. All standards of the ACBL are followed. Players looking for master points won’t get them, but all skill levels will have an enjoyable evening.
